GNSS is the abbreviation of Global Navigation Satellite System. The Chinese translation should be GNSS. At present, GNSS includes GPS in the United States, GLONASS in Russia, Compass in China and Galileo system in the European Union, with more than 100 satellites available.
As early as the mid-1990s, in order to break the monopoly of the United States in the market of satellite positioning, navigation and timing, gain huge market benefits and increase employment opportunities for Europeans, the European Union has been working on an ambitious civil GNSS project, called Global Navigation Satellite System.
